The above photo was taken at 1:12 PM on March 29. This photo shows one of several tees at the Westsyde Centennial Park’s accessible golf course. The course was designed with wheelchair accessibility in mind; there are cement walkways all around the perimeter of the course, and every golf tee is marked by a secure, flat plastic mat to throw from. Additionally, the entire field is relatively flat, allowing wheelchair users to easily access and use it with very minimal effort. This course thus constitutes universal design, as it allows for anyone, regardless of “ability” or “disability” to use the course to the fullest extent possible without any adaptations or specialized design.
